Sixto Luna was born in Kiskeya (Dominican Republic). Graduating with a B.S. in Information Science from Syracuse University, he later achieved a master’s degree from the prestigious Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at the Tisch School of the Arts, NYU, in 2003. His artwork resides at the intersection of digital mediums and traditional old master techniques. It was not until a 2017 painting workshop with visionary artist Amanda Sage that Sixto picked up a brush for the first time, igniting an obsession with the ‘Mischtechnik’ (oil and tempera painting). His pursuit of artistic growth continued with master painters Aloria Weaver and David Heskin, where he delved into the alchemy of oil painting. Furthermore, Sixto honed his traditional drawing and painting skills through courses at the Grand Central Atelier in NYC. Drawing from his cultural heritage and spiritual traditions, Sixto crafts ancestral memories that explore spiritual themes beyond the human realm.
